Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.
The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.
There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the School Sport Unit website for details.
Sport at Mitchell High is for every level of competitor who wants to enjoy new experience with their friends and fellow students. Sport is a mandatory requirement for the ROSA certificate. Mitchell High offers plenty of opportunities for students to be involved.
Please see Mrs Maguire in the physical education (PDHPE) staffroom.
Recreational sport involves students attending school and community based venues to participate in recreational activities. Students will either remain at school, walk or catch a bus to certain venues under the supervision of a teacher. Students will be dismissed from their venue at 2.50pm and will need to make their own travel arrangements.
Students who elect to participate in recreational sport need to return their permission note to the physical education (PDHPE) staffroom by the due date listed on the note.
Mitchell High school participates in a large number of knockout competitions.
