Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)  refers to students bringing their personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is essentially any technological device brought into the school and is owned by a student or the student's family.

Mitchell High School's BYOD program is a strategy to increase student learning through engagement. As the use of technology in classrooms increases, it is necessary for students to be allowed to maximise their learning potential through the use of electronic devices. The BYOD program is compulsory.

Our school introduced the BYOD program in 2022 and will continue this incentive.

Our school will be allowing students to bring their personally owned laptops to school. It is essential that these laptops are suitable for use at school. Please see below our schools laptop specifications and laptops must fulfil the minimum system requirements.

The school recommends purchasing a Chromebook from JB Hi-Fi Education, however other devices such as Windows laptops and MacBooks are acceptable, as long as they support the following technical specifications :

Tablets/iPads etc are NOT acceptable as they do not have the above technical specifications.

Before students are allowed to bring their own laptop, students and their parents/carers must read the DoE Bring Your Own Device Policy and the BYOD student agreement.

BYOD forms are available as a hard copy from the front office, or you can download them from the links below.

The agreement must be filled in, signed by a parent or carer, and submitted to the front office.

If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact the front office.

Learning

At our school, we teach the NSW curriculum and offer many different subjects to support each student’s learning. We know that development of skills in literacy and numeracy are the building blocks for learning and for everyday life. Our teachers use effective teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals.

Subject selection

Subject selection is one of your first real chances to take control of your education. Up until now, most of your learning has been decided for you. Now you get to choose the subjects that match your interests, strengths, and goals.
