Careers
At Mitchell High School, we are committed to supporting students and their parents/carers as they explore future employment and career opportunities. Our careers program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about their education, training, and employment pathways.
Online Career Tools
Our dedicated careers website, https://mitchell-hs.careertools.com.au, is a valuable resource for both students and parents/carers. Students are encouraged to create an account to access a range of interactive tools, including personality and career quizzes, to help them discover meaningful and achievable career paths.
Parent/Carer Resources
"Parents and Carers Talking Career Choices" is a helpful booklet created by the Australian Government Department of Education. It provides practical advice for parents and carers to guide conversations with their children about life after school – including further education, training, and employment options. The booklet is available in multiple languages.
Career Adviser Support
Mitchell High School has a dedicated Careers Adviser, Mr M. Turner, who offers personalised support for students across a range of areas, including:
- Subject selection guidance
- Exploring post-school study options
- Alternative career and training pathways
- Organising guest speakers from universities, industries, and other organisations
- Access to career expos, open days, and seminars
Mr Turner also assists students seeking part-time or casual work while still at school by helping them create resumes and apply for a Tax File Number (TFN).
Booking an Appointment
All students are encouraged to book a one-on-one appointment with Mr M. Turner to discuss their career interests and goals. Appointments can be made by contacting him or emailing him directly at michael.turner@det.nsw.edu.au.
