Extra curricular activities
Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of a child. It provides social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.
The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.
There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations.
Our extra-curricular activities

Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, research, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking and have the chance to compete in local and state events.
These skills are valuable not only in various competitions, but for all subjects and life beyond school. Debating and public speaking workshops are also run throughout the year.

Creative and performing arts
At our school, the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) faculty offers students a rich and inspiring journey through the dynamic worlds of Music, Visual Arts, and Photographic and Digital Media and can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Knockout competitions
Mitchell High school participates in a large number of knockout competitions. Schools knockout competitions are sporting events where school teams compete against each other in a single-elimination format, advancing through rounds until a champion is determined.
Students enjoy these competitions as they provide opportunities for students to represent the school and have fun. We have had success in soccer, volleyball, netball, cricket and basketball.

Sydney West School Sport Association
A number of students regularly represent our school in Sydney west competitions either through swimming, cross country, and athletics or by being part of a Blacktown Zone sports team.

Blacktown Zone
Students have the opportunity of representing Blacktown zone in a number of competitions. These include swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals as well as zone sporting teams.

Excursions/incursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
